The Landscaping Committee is in need of additional volunteers.
We meet at 7pm on the first Tuesday of every month at the Hangar. Please join us at our next meeting. Please let the Landscaping Committee know if you are interested in signing up for our email list. (I hope we can get more people involved by adding them to our email list, this way folks will stay informed about meetings, workdays, etc... if they are unable to attend our meetings on a regular basis)
The following is a list of items the Landscaping Committee cares for in our neighborhood to supplement the work done by our landscaper.
- Clean drainage area between pool and Baystone
- All plantings along sidewalk were donated and planted by committee
- Committee joined Arbor day foundation and received free trees that are planted along sidewalk
- Purchase and spread mulch at playground
- Pressure wash and stain playground equipment and benches/picnic tables
- Observe and identify irrigation issues on a daily basis
- Fix irrigation issues ourselves
- Turn off irrigation if raining (rain sensors don’t work)
- Adjust timing on irrigation
- Hand water plantings when necessary and where there isn’t irrigation
- Pick up trash on both sides of Morrison and in common areas
- Change light bulbs at both entryway signs
- Adjust times on lights for daylight savings
- Solicit and accept donations of plants to improve appearance of common areas
- Identify and remove dead trees when possible
- Organize and coordinate sale of pine needles twice a year
- Award “Yard of the Month”
2010 Community Garden - First year has been a success as several people have inquired about how to take part in the first annual PL Community Garden. Our harvest has been decent, and we will soon be planning our plantings for next season.
Lamp Posts - Residents may have noticed the excellent looking electric lampposts at several homes on Crossroads. The lamps have been converted from gas to electric using the Charm Lite conversion kit. The kit is available thru http://www.charm-lite.com/. The Landscaping Committee is currently taking count of people who are interested in ordering this wonderful conversion kit to help beautify our community. The more we order the better price we can get per kit. Please let The Landscaping Committee know if you are interested.
